Water village wedding...

While at the Regatta Lepa, we went walking through a water village and were invited to a wedding. Here the kids are showing us their version of the traditional dancing.

This was the bride in her room before getting prepped and ready for the wedding. Only women usually go in to see her, and the "lady boys" who actually do the makeup and hair!

Here is the after shot. Makeup done and all dressed for the big day. Here the weddings are different in that the groom with his family will come and then after that evening they will have more celebrations.

Waiting for the groom to arrive. So time for more pictures with friends and family.

Here is the bride signing the official documents since the groom had arrived. He is outside with his family and the other family members of the bride not crammed in her room. They hire an imam to do the official ceremony (actually done separate).

Here the groom enters the room, says something under his breath and then touches his finger to her forehead. Still not sure about that one, we need to find out why exactly they do that. After he spins her around and then kisses her forehead . . . and it's official!

At this particular wedding the groom actually gave her a ring, this doesn't always happen. Guess it depends on the family. He also gives her some money :)
