Road trip!

The beginning of last month we took about a week long road trip with two other guys around the district where we live. It takes about 10 hours to get to the other side. We then went around the coast and back to our city the capital. We were a bit surprised to be greeted by this boulder in the middle of the road! Good thing it didn't fall while we drove by!

What would a road trip be without a flat tire???? Well, the road we were traveling on wasn't quite completed so it included a lot of off-roading. Thankfully, Justin had put air into the spare tire!

It is always good to have a trained mechanic along! Haha, come to find out, our jack had no handle and one of the lugnuts was the wrong size :( We would have been stuck there a loooong time, if it hadn't been for a local guy who stopped and let us borrow his jack and tools.

This was a nice family that we met in one of the towns. They live in a wooden home on top of the water on an island. We had to haggle to get a local guy to take us over there with his boat. We had a really good conversation with them. We hope to be able to meet them again someday. Please be remembering them!

Another family we met on the way into the water village. They are waving goodbye as we are heading out.

This pic was taken near the dock where we were waiting on the boat to return to the mainland.

This lady was cutting up a huge jackfruit on the dock. This was actually only half of the fruit. She sells the inner pieces.

A mom and her daughter we met while waiting for our boat to return. We were getting worried he had forgotten us! We ended up taking the daughter back to the mainland where she works. Hopefully, we'll be able to visit with them as well if we get a chance to go back to their village. Daniela has been able to talk with the daughter on the phone a couple times already.

Another girl we met in a different village. These people also live in wooden homes on the water, but they are on the mainland. We were actually just driving around and happened to find this area.

The pic to the right shows an ariel view of the town and surrounding villages, along with the islands in the background. Just a 45 minute boat ride away is some of the best diving/snorkeling in the world. We climbed up a steep hill to get this picture. It's a beautiful sight from up there.
