A bittersweet weekend!

Another exciting trip with our teacher and her family. First off we left on a Saturday morning, everything running smoothly we arrive at a relative's home around 3 hours later. Here are a few of them that came to visit as well, our teacher's cousins and grandma.

The girl with the jeans on in the picture above is one of 5 and these are her little twin brothers. They are adorable, but it was quite difficult to get a picture of them together since they are very active (and usually doing separate things)!

That Saturday afternoon we went with the family to visit this museum. This building is actually very old and was constructed during the time that the British were still here in this country.

That evening we went to a night safari, which was very interesting. It was a neat experience, but some of the animals were difficult to see or get pictures of. This one of an owl came out pretty well though.

Here's a group shot the next morning before heading off to another family gathering. Notice Justin - still looking all healthy and smiley . . . more to follow on that!

The family gathering and festivities were for two reasons: one being the traditional 1st hair cutting of a baby and also to celebrate the upcoming circumcision of about 10 boys in the family and surrounding neighborhood. (Here the custom is to wait until the boy has reached around the age of 10-12 before having him circumcised - kind of like a welcoming to manhood).

In the above picture Justin is putting some kind of a white liquidy paste on the baby's head, we were told to do that before cutting a strand of hair. At this point, unbeknownst to anyone else Justin is feeling VERY sick. Shortly after that picture was taken, he's outside throwing up due to food poisoning :( Thankfully, by that evening most of it seemed to be out of his system - we just ended up staying another night.

Here's us the next day, Justin feeling MUCH better :)

PS - we felt like we would be ok w/out wearing life vests when going paddle boating, but I guess the locals were scared we couldn't swim!

And finally, Justin back to his old self!
