Hawaii (Week 1)

We spend Dec. 27th - Jan. 10th in beautiful Hawaii. It was nice to see family and friends again :) The first week we went to a black sand beach also know as Punaluʻu Beach . This is created by lava flowing from the volcano on the "Big Island" into the ocean which explodes as it reaches the ocean and cools.

Here's a closer view of the black sand. From far away it just looks like rocks or concrete. This beach is also known for the frequent sightings of endangered Hawksbill and Green Sea Turtles. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see a Hawksbill turtle. :-(

We went to the southernmost bakery in the US and ate something similar to a doughnut called a malasada. Thanks to the Portuguese!

We spent New Year's Eve at a luau. It was a lot of fun and the food was delicious - to the left is the after and to the right the before pic :)

To the left are the luau dancers arriving to start the show and then us in front of the bay to the right.

A few pics from the luau - to the right is the guy balancing two batons with fire.

For our 5 year anniversary we went to Bubba Gump's for dinner. This was our first time eating there - so many choices for shrimp dishes!

Us getting free ice cream! . . . and a song of course ;)

Hawaii looks like fun! I've always wanted to see a black sand beach.

Also... have yall been playing with Jason and Courtney's Mac? The effects on some of these pics look familiar:)

Haha, actually we did that with Nero photoshop. It does look like something a Mac would do, maybe our PC isn't so bad after all :) LOL.
